An eight-month-old baby in Bengaluru has been diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), marking India’s first confirmed case of the virus. The Karnataka Health Department has verified the diagnosis and noted that the child has no recent travel history. The case details have been communicated to the Union Health Ministry for further investigation. Health officials are yet to determine whether this strain of HMPV is linked to the outbreak currently affecting China, according to News18.
