MDH masala banned in Singapore

Well, MDHโ€™s Garam Masala, Chaat Masala, Chicken Masala, Chole Masala, Kitchen King Masala and Sambhar Masala come in many spices. But now Hong Kong has banned the sale of curry spices by MDH Private Limited and Everest Food Products Limited. This decision was made due to the high quantity of carcinogenic pesticide ethylene oxide in both companiesโ€™ products.

Excessive quantity of this pesticide poses a risk of cancer. Hong Kongโ€™s Center for Food Safety Department issued a statement in which they informed that MDH Groupโ€™s three spice mixes โ€“ Madras Curry Powder, Sambar Masala Powder and Curry Powder โ€“ contain the carcinogenic pesticide ethylene oxide. The quantity has been found to be high, and under the routine surveillance programme, this pesticide has also been found in Everestโ€™s fish curry masala. CFS said that the samples of these spices taken from three different retail outlets under its routine surveillance program revealed that They contain high amounts of carcinogenic pesticide ethylene oxide.

We have informed the concerned sellers about this and have asked them to stop selling the spices and have asked them to remove them from all stores. As per the instructions of CFS, distributors and importers have started recalling the affected products. According to reports, the international agency Theย Agency for Research on Cancer has classified ethylene oxide as a Group 1 carcinogen. According toย food regulations, food containing pesticides can be sold for human consumption only if the food is not dangerous or harmful to health. Ethylene oxide can cause breast cancer. Singapore also imports Everestโ€™s fish curry masala from India. Singapore authorities have issued an order to recall Everestโ€™s fish curry masala from the market. Indian company Everest supplies its products to more than 80 countries. Letโ€™s go.
