The quantity has been found to be high, and under the routine surveillance programme, this pesticide has also been found in Everest’s fish curry masala. CFS said that the samples of these spices taken from three different retail outlets under its routine surveillance program revealed that They contain high amounts of carcinogenic pesticide ethylene oxide.
We have informed the concerned sellers about this and have asked them to stop selling the spices and have asked them to remove them from all stores. As per the instructions of CFS, distributors and importers have started recalling the affected products. According to reports, the international agency The Agency for Research on Cancer has classified ethylene oxide as a Group 1 carcinogen.
