Palakkad Fort is one of the most decent and well-preserved forts built-in 1766. This structural monument was once referred to as โ€œTipuโ€™s Fortโ€. It is situated in Palakkad, Kerala foothills of the Sahyadris range. โ€œSultan Hyder Aliโ€ build the fort hiring highly-skilled French craftsmen. Some trees provide the cool, windy air at the fortโ€™s entrance side, and the fortโ€™s entrance is moat deeply and wide and fenced all around. The entry to the fort is made by crossing through a single bridge. There is abundant water in the fortโ€™s moat surroundings, and there are many tortoises in the water.

The Palakkad lies at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Further, the large pillars with few carvings in the fort beautify and adore the fort. Thereโ€™s โ€œAnjaneya Swami Templeโ€ inside the fort. The small carvings of the deities can be seen on the wall. The pillars and carvings on the walls of the fort influence the โ€œHoysala Architecture.โ€ The Palakkad fort has a sub-jail for prisoners within the fort.
