The festival of Gangaur is celebrated in every house of Rajasthan and if you are in Jaipur then you are lucky, here the biggest Gangaur procession of Rajasthan takes place which involves dance, drama, singing and much more
Starting right after Holi, the Gangaur festival is celebrated in Rajasthan to commemorate the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati (affectionately called 'Gan' and 'Gauri' in Rajasthan). A procession passes through the state houses, symbolizing Parvati's departure from her home to her in-laws.
A huge procession takes place on the last day. In Jaipur, the largest procession in the state leaves the City Palace and moves towards Talkatora Lake where the idols of Gana and Gauri are immersed.
Reach Jaipur's City Palace at 6 pm today from where the vibrant procession will begin which will proceed to Talkatora via Tripolia Bazaar, Chhoti Chowpar, Gangauri Bazaar and Chaugan Stadium.
It is an integral part of Rajasthan which you can also see in Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.
